From the shaman’s came the magicians.  All basic ideas and rituals of modern magic can be found in shamanic practices. So also for the modern magic stream Chaos Magick, a powerful combination of various techniques in multiple esoteric traditions and sources such as Sufi, Yoga and Pranayama, Upanishads,Buddhism, Bon, Freemaconary, Rosarians, Gurdjeff, Blavatski etc. It creates its own blend, together with its own philosophy, and more important its own actions (training, excercises,  rituals).

Chaos Magick

We present Chaos Magick here, because the skills and experiences of people following one or more of the workshops offered here, can be seen as part of a modern training to start understanding that such a thing as ‘Choas Magick’ has been developed since the last century. And start to understand its potential and its richness. The first focus on group level on Chaos Magick is by the Illuminates of Thanateros. This is a circle of dedicated Magiks who work from the fundaments, and creating the fundaments of Chaos Magick.

One could classify (if one would) an Chaos Magick as a Shamanic Tantric Wiccan. The essence of Chaos Magick has been defined recently as:

” chaos magic is about using whatever ideas and practices are helpful to you at the moment, even if they contradict ideas and practices used previously.

The key of Chaos Magick actually is accepting the spontanious. A recent analysis on what magic is in the context of the new Chaos Magick is the following:

You are the totality of what you do and can therefore change
yourself by doing otherwise.  Magic is the art of deliberately
believing and pretending very hard and finding that it works.
Highly improbable things can be done by those who are prepared
to experiment with the belief that they are not quite so
improbable.  The world is an illusion, it has played a confidence
trick on you if you let it define who you are.  However, you are
able to play confidence tricks on the universe and force it to
accept your own definition of yourself(s).  In fact, the universe,
being a humorous, obliging and magical structure, will invariably
collude in any such definitions you care to make, if you act
skillfully.  We are all charlatans, especially those persons
pretending to be normal ordinary people....

Magic is not an elusive epiphenomena as parapsychology seems
determined to prove.  This universe is an esstially magical
structure.

The essence of Magick is to initiate an intent, fuel it with all your focus and energy, and let it flow. It is in this sense like the latihan kejiwaan, the result of a renewed contact with the KIA, or the spirit/essence within all.

Automatic-spontanious speaking (speaking with tongues), automatic writing, and automatic movements, as in the latihan, are ways throught which Magick can run in the person.
