We do not need an external Guru, we have an interior Guru!

Guru Yoga, as taught by Tilopa and Marpa, aligns beautifully with the inner light path, where luminous phenomena serve as a gateway to deeper awareness. In both practices, the practitioner moves beyond external appearances and conceptual thought, connecting with the radiant essence of the mind. The guru, like the inner light, is a mirror reflecting the disciple’s own potential for enlightenment.
Just as phosphenes are experienced as radiant patterns that dissolve into pure awareness, Guru Yoga leads the practitioner to see the guru not as an external being but as the embodiment of the Clear Light within. This recognition is the culmination of the practice: the realization that the guru’s mind and one’s own mind are one and the same.

The Path to Liberation
For Tilopa and Marpa, Guru Yoga was the gateway to Mahamudra, the ultimate realization of the mind’s true nature. It is a path of profound simplicity and depth, requiring devotion, trust, and direct experience. By merging with the guru’s enlightened awareness, the practitioner transcends duality and recognizes the luminous, unchanging nature of reality.
In the words of Tilopa: “Rest in the uncontrived, innate openness. Do not seek the guru outside; recognize the light within as the guru’s own radiance. There, liberation arises spontaneously.”
Through Guru Yoga, the disciple not only receives the wisdom of the lineage but also awakens to their own infinite potential, walking the path of light that leads to ultimate freedom.
