At the Quinta Quixote we have the space and the time to dive deep in the essence, just pure and raw and as it is. In this time of massive disconnects between humans between themselves, in them selves and with our earth, a new stance is required. We focus on how to rebalance our position in our world by using tools recently developed in ecopsychology. Tools which are as old as mankind itself, and so simple.
Ecopsychology
Some key aspect of modern ecopsychology which we develop at the Quinta Quixote are:
A. Nature-based psychotherapy (how to connect with nature again), also known as basic ecotherapy
B. Shamanic counseling: body-mind work on for instance trauma release based on shamanic principles, and
C. Interspecies reconnection – how to reconnect with other living animals and plants.
Overlap psychology and ecology
These 3 chapters are all to be found in the overlap between psychology and ecology.
At our Quinta Quixote we work together based on all these 3 chapters.
Ecotherapy is as old as mankind. Stress reduction is achieved through all ages: people withdrew themselves in nature to digest complicated psychological issues and traumata. Just simply by emerging yourself in nature, walk between the trees, sit on an ancient stone and enjoy the stillness of a natural spot, far away from city-rumour helps tremendously to get it all together again.
Shamanic counseling is a way to alter consciousness, to expand horizons and to tap into resources to dissolve inner roadblocks, which prevents you to live your full potential. Such counseling is based on bodywork from the neo-Rechian tradition, breathwork and trancework.
At the Quinta we also have build a biotope for chickens, and together with these special animals we have developed a special form of qigong, chicken-qigong. For this form one has to connect with a chicken, feel its tendencies and step into a joint flow of movement. This can be seen as a practical example of so called transpersonal ecopsychology.
The use of natural psychedelics are one interesting emerging aspect related to the above mentioned topics. Taking natural plant-teachers with special effects, such as Cannabis, Salvia divinorum of magical truffles (all legal in the Netherlands and some other countries) can enhance the intensity of personal experience in nature and bring forth e new intra-ecopsychological consciousness. Together with a group of specialists we are currently also working in the development of this field.
Principles at the Quinta Quixote
We work on an individual base or in small groups, based on the so called quid pro quo principle – no money involved but a mutual giving principle as have been developed in groups working in biological agriculture, such as WWOOF. Friends coming to the Quinta wanting to experience aspects of the above help to further develop the Quinta and its environment in a sustainable way. At a different website we discussed the principles of the Quinta.
