Lesson 1: how to start!
Tantra is much more than just a practice, it is an exploration of presence, connection, and the subtle energies that flow between us. At Tantra4Men at our magical geodome in the Algarve, we create a space where men can deeply relax into their bodies, open their senses, and experience the profound intimacy of conscious touch.
Unlike the goal-oriented approach to touch and intimacy that many are used to, tantra invites us to slow down, to breathe together, and to enter into a state of deep receptivity. In our sessions, we move away from the idea that touch is simply a way to reach a goal, like climax or relief. Instead, we experience how energy moves, how presence deepens, and how a simple hand on the body can awaken an entire wave of sensation.
In this first lesson, we begin with two essential exercises: the sitting breath and touch meditation, and the lying down pulsation experience. These exercises help to synchronize breath, relax the body, and create trust between giver and receiver, forming the foundation for all deeper tantric experiences.
Lesson 1: The Art of Presence and Pulsation

Step 1: Sitting Breath and Touch Meditation
Objective: Connecting through breath, presence, and hands-on awareness.
- Sit on a mattress facing each other, legs crossed or sitting on your heels, ensuring comfort and relaxation.
- Hold each other’s hands gently and close your eyes, tuning into the warmth, texture, and subtle sensations of the hands.
- Begin to breathe in sync: one partner inhales, the other exhales, creating a gentle wave of breath between you.
- Slowly, with deep awareness, start touching each other’s hands and arms, moving with curiosity and without any goal.
- Feel the energy under the skin, sense the fine movements of the muscles, the warmth, the pulse of life in each other’s bodies.
- Keep eye contact for a moment, noticing how presence and touch interact.
- Let go of the hands and sit for a moment in silence, simply feeling the energy between you before moving on to the next phase.
This exercise helps dissolve barriers and allows the nervous system to settle into safety and deep awareness, which is essential for the next step.

Step 2: The Pulsation Experience
Objective: Awakening the natural vibration of the body through touch and rhythm.
- The receiver lies down on the mattress, comfortably covered with a light cloth to create a sense of warmth and safety.
- The giver places one hand on the heart (center of the chest) and the other on the hara (just below the navel, the core energy center).
- With soft, steady hands, the giver simply listens to the breath and body energy of the receiver.
- Slowly, begin a gentle rocking motion, moving the body in small waves as if cradling the breath.
- Gradually, the rocking grows into a full-body pulsation, following the natural rhythm of the receiver’s body—this is called Eigenfrequenz, or “own frequency.”

What is Eigenfrequenz?
Eigenfrequenz (German for “own frequency”) refers to the natural vibrational rhythm of the body. Every body has its own unique pulsation, just like every heartbeat is slightly different. When we move and rock in sync with someone’s Eigenfrequenz, we align with their body’s deep, unconscious rhythm, allowing energy to flow more freely.
By following this natural rhythm, the receiver relaxes deeper, tensions dissolve, and the body begins to move without effort, almost as if floating in water.
Ending the Session
- After several minutes of pulsation, slow down the movement until stillness naturally returns.
- Keep your hands softly resting on the body of the receiver, allowing both of you to feel the energy settle.
- Take a deep breath together, then gently remove your hands, allowing the receiver a moment of silent integration before sitting up again.
- Share a short moment of eye contact and gratitude, acknowledging the deep trust that was built in this session.
